How do I put two photos side by side?

Drop both photos. Two photos start side by side; pick a wide shape such as 16:9 if you want less space around them, then drag and resize either photo to taste.

Can I make several collages at once?

Yes. Set “Photos per image” to, say, 4 and a batch of 12 photos becomes three collages, which you can download together as a ZIP.

Will my photos be cropped?

Not unless you crop it yourself. Every photo is shown whole inside its frame, with the background around it if the shapes differ. To trim one, select it, press the crop button and drag the edges of the crop box over the photo.

How large is the combined image?

The size is picked for you: wide enough that the largest photo keeps its own resolution, between 1200 and 4000 pixels across, with the height following the shape you choose. Photos are decoded only as large as their cell needs, so even big batches stay light on memory.
